The Medicentre was jointly funded by University of Stirling, NHS & Highlands and Islands Enterprise and is primarily for the Teaching and Education of Healthcare Professionals. It is the National Health Service’s wish to have a multi-professional environment within Regional Centres to address the acute problem of recruitment and retention of Medical Staff within the Highlands. The Medicentre is the first building in Scotland to fully embody this wish. The building will be fitted out for Clinical Skills, a Library, Lecture Theatre and offices for NHS staff. The 50,000ft² building is on two floors and is set around a landscaped courtyard.
Phase 2 & Phase 3 of the Project will add a further 60,000ft² of laboratory space for a dentistry facility and incubator space for local life sciences companies. The architects are Bennetts Associates for concept design and Keppie for implementation design.
