DISPLAY ENERGY CERTIFICATE

As part of the sme legislation which provided Energy Performance Certificate, Display Energy Certificates (DECs) were introduced for public properties as a way to highlight and monitor energy consumption on an ongoing basis.

The DEC shows the energy performance of a building based on actual energy consumption. The DEC is valid for one year and must be updated annually. Like the EPC, the DEC is also shown on a graph from A-G.

The Advisory report which accompanies the DEC provides a range of recommendations aimed at improving the energy consumption and lowering the DEC rating.
