Corporate and Social Responsibility

The Maggie’s Centre Foundation, dedicated to the memory of Maggie Keswick Jencks, carries out a program of assistance to cancer patients providing information on their pathology, lowering their levels of stress and tension linked to the disease.

Maggie’s Centres are housed in small pavilions adjacent to hospitals specalised in treating tumours, and the building itself is considered one of the key elements for the success of the assistance provided. Pursuing a policy of high quality, the Foundation has for some time now entrusted the design of the pavilions to practices of contemporary architecture.

KJ Tait Engineers carry out commissions each year free of charge for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres. To date these include Maggie’s Centres Cheltenham with MacCormack Jamieson and Pritchard Architects; Wishaw with Reiach and Hall Architects and Kirkcaldy with Zaha Hadid.

In a wider sense, we recognize our responsibility in relation to the community and the environment. Our policy is to be sensitive to local community issues as an employer and as a design engineering firm involved in construction projects.

Our policy extends to supporting local charities, supporting client charities, providing occasional free design consultancy service for good causes and supporting local schools. We also have an office recycling policy where each office carries out recycling of paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, lamps and all other possible waste.

In addition to Maggie’s Centres, our charitable support favours local charities.
We support local schools, colleges and Universities by providing work experience for school children and students.

Our engineers are also encouraged to provide careers advice to schools and institutions in relation to a career in engineering services.
